Early music festival in Latvia

The International Early Music Festival is the most charming, posh and smartest cultural event in Latvia. The concerts are homed by Rīga churches and concert halls, as well as by the Rundāle Palace - the most outstanding Baroque palace in Latvia. The festival is reviving the masterpieces by Percel, Vivaldi, Telemann, Gluck, Handel et als Baroque masters. There are gorgeous garments, authentic instruments and the Baroque architecture and interiors present. The closing concert at the Rundāle Palace Park has been always attended by thousands - and there has always been the fragrance of the rosario there.

LV: Rīga is one of the few European cities where Art Nouveau architecture, art and design objects have survived in great numbers. It is even called "the metropolis of Art Nouveau". There are 800 Art Nouveau buildings in Rīga, mostly located in the city's centre - particularly on Alberta Street. Riga Art Nouveau Centre can also be found on this street, in the former apartment of the renowned Latvian architect Konstantīns Pēkšēns, who lived and worked here till 1907 and designed this beautiful building.
LV: If you want to enjoy the view of the historical centre of Riga while going along the City Canal and to see the landscape of the city from the River Daugava, use the Riga by Canal opportunity to take a boat trip with one of the four tourist boats.

Riga by Canal ships departs from Bastion Hill (Bastejkalns) pier, 100 metres from the Freedom Monument. Length of the ride is 1 hour.

LV: The Central Gastro Market, located in a historical zeppelin hangar at the Riga Central Market, has gathered over 20 various different types of caterers, offering the best of Latvian and global cuisine. This is the first food-court type concept in the Baltics, where everything can be found at one place to enjoy the atmosphere of the city while enjoying a variety of different foods.
LV: Sigulda cable car offers a trip over the Gauja old valley, overlooking a charming landscape of several kilometres, including Sigulda and Turaida castle, Krimulda manor house, as well as the Bobsleigh and luge track "Sigulda". The cable car connects both river banks in width of 1025 meters.

Sigulda is located 50 km from Riga city.

LV: Architecture and waterfalls of KULDĪGA

Nicknamed "the Venice of the North," Kuldiga is an endearing blend of flowing water and historic buildings on the candidate list for UNESCO world heritage listing.

Take in the breath-taking sight of the Ventas rumba, Europe's widest waterfall, and the handsome 19th century brick bridge.

LV: Rundale Palace is set amidst the fertile Zemgale Plains in the south of Latvia. Most of the interior decorations were created between 1765 and 1768 when a sculptor from Berlin Johann Michael Graff, and Italian painters from St. Petersburg Francesco Martini and Carlo Zucchi worked at the palace.

The representation rooms in the eastern wing of the palace - the Gilt Hall, the White Hall, and the Great Gallery - are open to the public.

LT: The 52 km bike path that winds through the Curonian Spit is one of the most spectacular in Lithuania. The trip begins with a ferry from Klaipėda, the Lithuanian sea port, and leads towards Nida.

The route stretches through Kuršių Nerija National Park, which UNESCO has recognised as one of the most unique natural and cultural heritage sites in the Baltic Sea Region. Its most charming features are the pine forests and the wind-blown sand dunes which provide stunning views of the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon.

LT: The legendary residence of the rulers of Lithuania, the lakes and picturesque shores, the heritage of the Karaims and aristocratic life - only in Trakai can you find so many valuable things in one place.

This is the only historical national park in Lithuania and all of Europe, making it a must-see for local tourists and foreign guests alike.


LT: While walking around the Old Town of Vilnius, you cannot miss the architectural ensemble of Vilnius University and the Church of Saints John with its Baroque bell tower. An original bell tower, designed by a famous architect and the intelligent follower of Vilnius Baroque school, Jonas Kristupas Glaubicas (Johann Christoph Glaubitz), is the tallest building in the Old Town of Vilnius which invites visitors to climb up to the very top and view the Baroque capital. At the end of the academic year, the church hosts the biggest celebration of Vilnius University students - a solemn diploma award ceremony is held here.
LT: It is the most romantic spot in Lithuania. It is a real diamond of Lithuanian Baroque of the 17th century. Built by a wealthy, influential and very religious Pac family, the monastery many times suffered from wars. However, time failed to destroy the beauty created by Italian artists Giovanni Battista Frediani, brothers Pietro and Carlo Puttini, Joano Meri, Giuseppe Rossi and Florentine painter Michelangelo Palloni. Today it is revealed by music played under the vaults of the church - many concerts and music festivals are organised here, and the sisters of St Casimir safeguard the peace of the monastery.
LT: In the historical Lithuanian capital of Trakai, you can find kybyn - pastries with meat that are made by the Karaims who live here. At the old Tatar village in Raižiai, in the district of Alytus, the locals will treat you to šimtalapis - their traditional "hundred-leaf" cake with poppy seeds. In Vilnius, enjoy some Russian dumplings and be sure to try Jewish bagels as well as Jewish herring with raisins and cinnamon. And of course try Lithuanian speciality- CEPELINAS, this, heavy, filling dish is most delicious when it is made from fresh potatoes.
EE: Tallinn Bay Dinner Cruise
A tour with the old cruiser "Katharina" is the best way to admire the wonderful panorama of the Old Town of Tallinn and its towers. You will learn about Tallinn's maritime history, and admire the historic shoreline and fancy cruise ships in the port. The navigation bridge is open to visitors and souvenir pictures can be taken there.

The ship has three saloons, seating max 200 guests, two sundecks,
seminar room, bar and restaurant.

EE: Kuressaare Episcopal Castle, also known as Kuressaare Castle, is one of the most interesting and best preserved fortresses in Estonia and Europe. The castle has become one of the most remarkable buildings in Northern Europe built during the 14th-19th century.

There is a history museum which tells stories of the distant past and recent history of Saaremaa and the locals through permanent exhibitions and traveling exhibitions.

EE: SPA in Tallinn, Haapsalu, Narva-Jõesuu, Kuressaare and Pärnu, have a long history as a health vacationing destinations, continue to be highly regarded resort towns to this day. The healing mud found in Estonia is also greatly valued nowadays.
